Oppo launched Oppo A72 smartphone back in April, but it's today when Oppo has unveiled the 5G variant of A72.
Although the name suggests a rebranded smartphone with modem improvement, Oppo A72 5G is, in fact, an entirely new smartphone.
Let's start with the upgrades, The first worthy upgrade you get with Oppo A72 5G other than its 5G modem is its Dimensity 720 Chipset the older A72 4G has a Snapdragon 665 Chipset. The Dimensity 720 Chipset is a solid upgrade over the sludgy Snapdragon 665 Processor.
Another significant upgrade to be seen is Display. Oppo A72 5G comes with the same 6.5 inches Full HD+ Chipset, but it has got 90Hz display as opposed to the 60Hz display of non 5G variant. So, a more fluid experience in day to day life is a guarantee. Now, it's time to talk about downgrades.
Oppo A72 5G features some prominent upgrades as explained above, but since the price has to be kept low, a lot of trade-offs have been made.
The first major trade-off with Oppo A72 5G is the camera. Oppo A72 had a capable Penta camera setup featuring a 16MP selfie shooter and a 48MP primary camera followed by an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor units. In Oppo A72 5G, you get a downgraded 8MP selfie shooter with a 16MP primary module followed by an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP depth module.
Oppo A72 5G comes with a toned-down battery too. Oppo A72 5G comes with a 4040mAh battery unlike, a massive 5000mAh battery present in older Oppo A72 4G. The battery draws its power through an 18W fast-charger supplied in the box. So, no crazy charging tech either.
Anyways, Oppo A72 5G comes with many other highlights, including a Dirac 2.0 sound enhancements, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Oppo A72 5G is already up for the grabs in Chine, where it is available to be purchase in three color variants - Neon, Oxygen Violet, and Simple Black. The only memory variant of Oppo A72 5G with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage carries a price tag of CNY1,899 ($270/€230).
