Apple has announced various devices and software updates at the World Wide Developer Conference 2023 (WWDC23), which tech and gadget lovers have been waiting for months worldwide. Apple usually introduces the world to new software for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac through WWDC; this time, it also showcases some new hardware. MacBook Air, Mac hardware and many other updates were introduced at the conference.
Apple Vision Pro
The biggest attraction was the Apple Vision Pro, Apple's first spatial computer. While giving its presentation, Apple Chief Tim Cook said, "Today marks the beginning of a new era of computing."
The way Apple has entered the VR headset race with the Vision Pro could change people's perspectives. It is a personal display that supports many of Apple's operating systems. This device is controllable with eyes, hands and voice. Its glass front has a camera, and the headset has a wide rear band. The Vision Pro has a three-element lens that enables 4k resolution and sports an external battery back. The audio pods are inside the band, and at the bottom of the headset are sensors that track hands and body motion.
Leak reports have been coming out for the last several months regarding iOS 17, which has now come to an end. iOS 17 rolled out with many new features, and there have been many changes regarding privacy.
In iOS 17, you can use more filters while searching inside the messages. Instead of pressing and holding while replying to a message, all you have to do is swipe. There will be the facility to transcribe voice notes. A new safety feature Check-in will send a 'note' to your contact when you arrive at your location. It will also share the battery and signal status of the phone. Check-in is end-to-end encrypted.
AirDrop is a valuable tool for sharing files between Apple devices. Now you can also share contact info with name drop with this new version of iOS. A new standby mode will turn the iPhone into an alarm clock. In this system, calendar and music control will be available along with the clock face.
WatchOS 10 delivers redesigned apps. Clock, Activity app and full-screen view for rings get improvement. A third-party new design will also be available, and the watch uses Smart Step Machine Learning to show relevant information.
The Apple Watch also gets Auto Night mode with the WatchOS 10 update. With the help of Wayfinder, Apple Watch users can change the colour scheme to black and red. The Apple Watch Ultra's ambient light sensor will detect low light and turn on Night mode after the WatchOS 10 update.
With WatchOS 10 update, Apple Watch has got automatic Bluetooth connectivity. Apple Watch could connect via Bluetooth to cycling accessories like power and speed meters. The map has also improved with the new update. The watchOS 10 update is available as a developer beta version. The update will be available from Apple Watch 4 Series to Apple Watch 8 Series and Apple Watch Ultra.
Apple launched the new 15-inch MacBook Air at the event. The company claimed this is the best 15-inch laptop in the world based on an M2 chip. The model thickness is only 11.5mm, and its weight is around 1.3kg. There are two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, a MagSafe charging connector, and a headphone jack. It has a 1080p FaceTime HD Webcam, three microphones and six speakers with spatial audio.
