Samsung has released a note about the list of devices that will get only quarterly security updates, and it looks like Samsung 2017 flagship series is now a part of it.
Samsung S8 series running on Android 9 is already three years old now, and it was confirmed earlier that they won't receive any major Android update. The latest list includes all three models of S8 Series - Samsung S8, Samsung S8+, and S8 Lite.
Samsung S7 series launched in 2016 received 2 years of monthly updates followed by two years of quarterly updates, which came to an end last month this year. So, it is more likely that, if you own a Samsung S8 your device will keep getting security updates for another year till 2021.
Samsung S8 was the first smartphone from Samsung and second only in the world next to LG G6 to debut with an 18.5:9 ratio AMOLED panel, which brought a revolution to the old 16:9 screen ratio smartphone design.
meanwhile, Samsung S8 is still a capable piece of hardware to live within 2020 with its Snapdragon 835 and beautiful glass-sandwich design.
