COVID-19 Tracking App: Aarogya Setu

The Indian Government has intensified its efforts to make reliable information about the novel coronavirus accessible to the commonalty using the newly launched app- Aarogya Setu.

This App is available for both iOS and Android users and can be downloaded from both the app store and play store. This app has been developed by the National Informatics center to aim in 'augmenting' efforts to 'proactively' inform the citizens of India about the best practices and relevant advisories related to the containment of COVID-19.

This app aims to help people to identify whether they are at risk of being infected by the coronavirus. This could be done by checking if they knowingly or unknowingly come into contact with the ones who are already tested positive with the COVID-19.

The app supports almost 11 different languages of India which also includes English and requires access to your location and Bluetooth to determine if you have recently been in contact with any COVID-19 positive patient. The app also offers some self-assessment tests for the users to take, which can be repeated through the app in case any symptoms are developed.

How it works?

You have to register to the application first with your phone number before using it. Once registered it will use your smartphone's Bluetooth and Location services to continuously track every person who comes in a range of your smartphone proximity. You will be notified if someone you have come close to, even unknowingly, tests COVID-19 positive or has any symptoms of Cough, Cold, Fever.

Companion Features

The app also features a list of emergency contact numbers available separately for each state of India specialized in dealing with COVID-19 cases. Aarogya Setu has also some other useful features like tweeter COVID 19 account embedded with the Homepage of APP to keep in track with the latest tweets by government officials.
