Today, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has announced its Redmi 9 Prime smartphone in India. Redmi 9 Prime is not an entirely new smartphone, but a rebranded Redmi 9, launched in Spain back in June, and there is no single distinguishable feature to be found.
Redmi 9 Prime comes powered via Mediatek Helio G80 Chipset paired with a 4GB of RAM. For internal storage, you get to choose between 64GB or 128GB. Redmi 9 Prime also features a dedicated MicroSD slot for a memory expansion supporting up to 512GB of MicroSD card.
Upfront, there is 6.53 inches 1080p LCD that comes with a drop notch sporting an 8MP selfie cam. Around the back, there is a quad-camera setup composed of a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. 5MP macro shooter at Redmi 9 Prime price point is a surprise since most of the OEM's are going for a 2MP module for macro shooting.
Anyways, Redmi 9 Prime comes packed with a massive 5020mAh of battery that supports 18W fast charging, but unfortunately, The device comes with only a 10W fast charger out of the box.
For authentication, Redmi 9 Prime has a traditional fingerprint sensor located at its back panel fused with the camera setup. Other highlights of Redmi 9 Prime includes 3.5 mm jack and Dual-SIM support.
Available in four color variants, Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue, and Sunrise Flare, Redmi 9 Prime comes with a price tag of INR 9,999 for its base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Top variant with 128GB of internal storage will cost you INR 2000 more.
The Redmi 9 Prime will go on sales starting August 6 via India's largest online retailer Amazon.in. From August 17, Redmi 9 Prime will be available across all smartphone stores, including offline stores pan India.
