BSNL will be debt free in 3 years!

HIGHLIGHTS

• At present, the company has a debt of Rs 22,289 crore.
• The government has given packages twice for reinforcement.
• This year the company will start 4G and 5G services in many states.

To strengthen BSNL and make it debt free in three years, the Cabinet on Wednesday approved the third package of Rs 89,047 crore. Earlier, the package was approved in 2019 and 2022 for the reinforcement of the company. 

As per the figures, a package of Rs 69,000 crore in 2019 and Rs 1.60 lakh crore in 2022 was approved. BSNL will use the third package given on Wednesday mainly for buying 700, 3300 and 2500 megaHertz spectrum so that 4G and 5G services could broaden across the country. 

BSNL is not giving any 4G or 5G services right now. However, BSNL's 4G and 5G services could start in many parts of the country by October-November this year with the help of this package. BSNL's 4G and 5G services will begin in Mumbai as well as Delhi by next year. The company will also continue its 2G services along with 4G and 5G.

Completely indigenous 4G-5G service developed by CDOT-TCS

The technology for BSNL's 4G and 5G services is entirely indigenous, directly developed by CDOT and TCS. According to the communication Minister, many countries want to buy this technology from India. The company will focus on marketing along with tightening its customer service.

4G live test going on in Amritsar-Firozpur

BSNL is unable to compete with private telecom companies due to a lack of 4G services. After the 4G service starts, the number of customers of BSNL will also increase. The company is currently testing 4G service in Pathankot, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Firozpur and will roll out to other parts of the country in a few months.
