Sony has just announced a new generation of flagship mobile phones, the Xperia 1 IV, and in fact, moderators have already grabbed the lead in getting started with this new phone before the global debut. This new phone promises to be the first flagship phone with a real optical zoom lens, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 engine.
First and foremost, the Sony Xperia 1 IV's look is comparable to that of prior Sony mobile phones. It boasts a 6.5-inch OLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ compatibility, and a peak brightness of 1100 nits. It also has a Quad HD+ resolution and a PPI density of 643, making it extremely quick and accurate.
Because the back is made of glass and the frame is constructed of metal, it is somewhat lighter than other Flagship smartphones. The Sony Xperia 1 IV looks almost identical to last year's model three, so it's still a very recognizable Sony look: a boxy skinny rectangle that's a little higher and narrower than usual smartphone slabs. This is because Sony's 6.5-inch screen has a smaller 21:9 aspect ratio. This smaller form factor appeals to me since the phone is narrower from left to right and hence simpler to handle.
The Sony Xperia 1 IV has a triple 12MP camera system with wide (24mm), ultra-wide (16mm), and variable portrait zoom lenses with optical zoom lengths ranging from 85mm (or about 3.5x) to 125mm (5.2x). This later lens is unique in that it is a periscope zoom lens with an actual moving lens within, which only Sony does, as far as I know. The Xperia 1 III employed a similar technique last year, but it could only hop between two fixed optical zoom levels. This year, the range is fluid, which means the zoom lens may provide optical zoom anywhere between 3.5x and 5.2x. A TOF sensor is also included to aid with extra depth mapping.
Overall, I had a great time with the Sony Xperia 1 IV's camera system. I am not a professional photographer, but I do own two Sony Alpha cameras for business, thus I consider myself to be a semi-pro photographer and videographer. I admire the Xperia 1 IV for not following in the footsteps of other phone manufacturers and instead of attempting to adhere to basic photographic principles. Having a physical shutter button and a camera UI with additional settings makes me want to take more images than I currently do.
Sony's pricing approach is a little convoluted, but this smartphone is well worth the money. It's a touch pricey, but with an excellent camera, quicker display, pleasant and clean Android skin, new software improvements, and so on, it's a full smartphone in every way.
With a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the phone performs most tasks at a top-level. When I use the phone regularly or play games, I don't notice the temperature issue. On hot days, I'll get a pop-up notice informing me that my phone is overheating. Despite the pop-up notice, I was able to film with the phone for a few more minutes before the phone kicked me out of the video app.
The Sony Xperia 1 IV boasts a powerful processor and graphics processor, as well as connection options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB, 3G, 4G, and 5G. It has a large battery capacity and a smooth performance, and it looks lovely and brilliant. It includes a strong CPU that will provide improved performance for users, a flash that will let you shoot high-quality images in low-light circumstances, and It has a large and colorful screen, and it performs well in terms of applications and games.
If you want a nice flagship phone, a decent gaming phone, a good design, a fantastic display, and great performance, the Sony Xperia 1 IV is an excellent choice. Because it meets all of the requirements of a good consumer.
So there concludes my comprehensive evaluation of the Sony Xperia 1 IV.
